Tate and the Executive Director of the Planning Commission was Edmund N. Bacon, actor Kevin Bacon’s father. It was during his tenure at the City Planning Commission that Bacon and his staff conceived and implemented numerous large and small-scale design ideas that shaped today's Philadelphia. These design concepts became Penn Center, Market East, Penn's Landing, Society Hill, Independence Mall, and the Far Northeast.The book is illustrated throughout with photographs, diagrams and color maps.The book includes city planning objectives including transportation, education, recreation, census characteristics, community facilities and population projection.Some of the locations in Northwest Philadelphia include: Germantown, Stenton-Cheltenham Avenue, Schuylkill River, Ridge Avenue, Chestnut Hill, East Falls, and many more.Packed full of historical data and interesting city planning predictions.Condition is used.
