Alexandrite:
Alexandrite was discovered in emerald mines of the Ural Mountains in 1830 and was named after the Russian czar Alexander II and was the national stone of czarist Russia. It is worth noting that, the color changing property of the gemstone tends to be less dramatic in most of the non-Russian ones. As it mentioned before alexandrite is a very scarce gemstone and high-quality alexandrite is one of the most expensive of all the precious gemstones.
This simulated Alexandrite gemstone is from the 70's and can not be duplicated again. The price is based on the rarity of the large cut Gemstones that were made at the time.
