This listing is for a lovely 1950's or 60's Italian (Murano) glass dish. Love everything about it: the gorgeous hexagon form, the substantial thickness, the color and, of course, the bubbles and tiny iridescent gold flecks. This bubble technique incorporates a regular pattern of air enclosures trapped within glass and is called “bullicante”. The air bubbles are evenly spaced and gradually change in size.l This technique is still in use but it was especially popular in Murano during the 50s.
The piece measures about 7 x 7 x 3 . Overall this dish is in nice vintage condition. There are no significant issues, just some subtle scratches on the very bottom of the dish. Some manufacturing flaws are present. The three low points of the exterior pulls on dish have been ground down for a flat finish rather than having a smooth/rounded ending. Not sure if this is by design or if it is a manufacturing flaw.
