Excellent condition vintage pair of super cute cabin-lake inspired pillows - Cindy Owings Designs
Owings decided to take her business in a new direction. She began producing pillows and other products for the home, such as throw rugs and foot stools.
I got the idea for making pillows from scraps used in coat production, Owings said.
She sent sample pillows to the company producing the Whispering Pines catalog, published in Connecticut. The managers ordered 150 pillows and put the design on the catalog's cover.
Within four months, Owings had an order for 6,000 pillows. She began hiring more employees. Now she has eight people working at her factory on Wallace Avenue and a few contracted to sew for her at home.
Because she changed the emphasis of her product line, her business now is thriving.
