Shogi Pieces: Komaken Hachidaime Koubai

This is a work by the eighth-generation Komaken (real name: Genichi Akamatsu), who was hailed as Komashi no Sankichi Sakata, the best deep-carving craftsman in Japan. The typeface is Koubai. The wood is Satsuma boxwood, which was favored by carvers in Osaka at the time.

41 pieces (plus one extra pawn)

However, 3 out of the 4 silver generals are of a higher grade, with the same typeface as Hougyoku or Chikusen (Takeyama). It is unlikely that the silver generals were added later, and the sense of time is the same, so it is believed that they were mixed at the time of sale. Please be aware of this. (See photos 7, 8, 14, and 15)

Size (length * width * thickness)
Osho (King): 33.1 * 27.4 * 9.0
Fu (Pawn): 26.5 * 21.6 * 6.6
*There may be some errors due to amateur caliper measurements.

*The paulownia wood koma-bako (piece box) in the photos is included.
*Although it is clean for its age, it is an old item, so please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for perfection.
