A Sulphide marble has a transparent base with a sulphide figure inserted inside it. They are made by hand and unique to the maker as they are single-gather, single-pontil marbles. Sulphide marbles were made almost exclusively in Germany in cottage workshops and small factories from the 1830s to the 1930s.
