CD 154 Hemingray-42 glass insulator in Hemingray Blue colored glass. Shape designation features rounded dome, double petticoat. May be from the earliest moldings as the 42 is known for round drip points. Fang drip points were a characteristic of its predecessor CD 152 No. 40.
This one has striations inside the glass that seem to be impurities. They look similar to cracks inside the glass, but they do not extend - to the best of our eye - to the outside of the casting. Note the Hemingray - 42 and Made in U.S.A. text is irregularly muted.
Produced between 1921 and 1966 primarily for telephone and telegraph lines.
