Wooden bookends/music box. Made in Italy with a Swiss movement. One bookend has an Armillary sphere with a small sphere representing Earth and a brass lattice work sphere that actually turns. Sphere is encircled by a colorful strip representing the signs of the zodiac. The outer part is a wooden reference circle representing degrees of latitude, printed in Italian. The other bookend is a colorful reproduction of an antique globe of the Earth with outer wooden circle with degrees of latitude. The globe turns and actually winds up a hidden music box which plays Around the World in Eighty Days. There is a sticker on one bookend reading “Il Giro del Mondo” and “Swiss Musical Movement”. Also has the brand name “Mapsa”. The globe bookend with sticker plays music when rotated. The bookends are in excellent vintage condition. Each bookend has a brown felt covered bottom. They are 6.5 tall, 8 long and 4 wide.
