Pair of antique vintage beer steins. Both stamped Western Germany. Both from AJ (Albert Jacob) Thewalt.
The taller one ( 12 x6 ) is style #1202, Tyrolean Couple. It has two phrases: I hab di gar so gern (I am fond of you, or I like you) and I mag di leiden (I love you, or you are dear to me). Vibrant colors and lovely depiction of a couple, a little house and a moose in the mountains. The handle is carved like a large branch of a tree. This is a SHELF PIECE, as there is a large crack around the base (see photos).
The smaller (7 x5 ) is style #1187, Beer Garden Scene. It's in near perfect condition without any chips or cracks. It is rounded, also depicting a couple and some floral designs. Handle is carved with a beaded/braided design. Both steins have hinged connical lids.
