This is Fabulous Mask with Silver Repousse Over a Wood Mask with Turquoise and red Stones. Tibetan Jewelry uses a technique called Repoussé , which is from the French, meaning roughly pushed up from behind . The technique involves pushing a silver surface outward from behind to create a three dimensional effect on the surface of the metal. Then, a technique called chasing is used to work the details of the design on the front, back or outside of the piece to create the final pattern. This mask is a very intricate and detailed silver design. Tibetan masks plays an essential role in traditional Tibetan culture.
