1976 2 Federal Reserve Note – RARE Fold-Over Ink Transfer Error. – Misprint
A striking obverse ink transfer and print misalignment error.
Error Details:
Ink Transfer Misprint: Part of the “This Note is Legal Tender…” text from the reverse has transferred to the obverse, appearing just above the serial number, and overlapping the edge of the bill.
This was likely caused by the note being folded while still wet with ink, resulting in a mirror image transfer from one side to the other.
Multiple Print-Doubling Areas are visible on the obverse, especially around Thomas Jefferson’s profile and the Treasurer’s signature, indicating additional inking issues or slight misregistrations.
This is NOT post-print damage or writing—this is a genuine ink offset/misprint error, confirmed by its location, mirror text, and edge transfer.
