A comprehensive reprint of all 36 issues of LE JAPON ARTISTIQUE (The Art of Japan), a monthly art magazine specializing in Japanese art, published in France from 1888 to 1891.

Published in France, Germany, and England for three years, this is a crucial art magazine that formed the basis of Japanese art studies in the West. Many artists of the time subscribed to this magazine, and its influence extended from Europe to the art and craft world of America. Notably, Van Gogh was a devoted reader of the magazine, which was sent to him from Paris, and it is known that he embraced Japanese art through the Ukiyo-e illustrations of Hokusai and others featured in the magazine.

- The enthusiasm of the creators is evident, as the magazine includes sketches by Kuniyoshi, among others, the origins of which are unknown.
