FOTUS is a Japanese brand with a futuristic aesthetic. The name comes from the German word for fetus, and the designer is Masahiro Saito.
Saito, a graphic designer at the design company SHIN&COMPANY, which primarily dealt in miscellaneous goods, launched the fashion brand before later becoming independent. FOTUS aimed to fuse music, video, and fashion, embodying the curiosity, imagination, and potential for the future that adults often forget. The brand uses the fetus as its icon, representing its core philosophy, and gained a cult following, particularly within underground culture.
In the late 90s, FOTUS held an exhibition in London, which was highly praised in London fashion magazines. The brand, along with W< (Belgium), was part of the 90s designer boom and garnered attention from DJs and artists worldwide. These are now valuable vintage pieces, as the brand is no longer active.
This is a pair of FOTUS asymmetrical line multi-pocket cargo pants.
Inspired by tactical pants used as uniforms by elite professional units such as the US Special Forces and SWAT teams, FOTUS has reinterpreted the design. These pants feature numerous pockets secured with Velcro and zippers on a glossy, soft nylon fabric. The design is highly unique, with an asymmetrical arrangement of black line panels on the right and left legs. The width of the pant legs can be adjusted with zippers at both hems. The pants have a wide, straight-leg cut with a full mesh lining for breathability and comfort.

Due to their vintage and archival nature, there are a few small holes on the left thigh, but they are not see-through due to the lining. There is also a missing button on the left hip pocket, deterioration of the brand patch cover on the right pocket, and paint peeling on the zippers.
