Launched as a standalone brand in the Spring/Summer 1994 season, developing from the pleats first presented in the 1988 women's collection. By developing the material from a single thread and employing the product pleating technique—pleating after the garment is sewn—highly functional clothing was realized. It offers lightness, ease of wear, and simple care (machine washable), while creating a silhouette that adapts to the body's shape and movement. Product pleating, one of Issey Miyake's manufacturing methods, and the ingenuity that makes use of it, creates clothing that supports the joy and freedom of dressing for people living in the modern age.
