Steven Norman Carlton, nicknamed Lefty , was a Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed pitcher for 24 seasons, from 1965 to 1988. Born in Miami, Florida on December 22, 1944, he played for six teams, but is best known for his time with the Philadelphia Phillies. Carlton won four Cy Young Awards with the Phillies and the 1980 World Series. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994
