(312)Back: THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL. This superb structure is a fitting tri bute to a great man, Abraham Lincoln. It is of classic Greek Architecture, and the colonnade of 36 columns represent the 36 states, which comprised the Union at the time of Lincoln's death. Insite this beautiful temple is the monumental statue of Lincoln by Daniel French.Front: THE LINCOLN STATUE IN THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL (313) WASHINGTON, D.C.Back: The Giant Statue of the Great Emancipator in the magnificent Lincoln Memorial is an especially stirring sight to all Americns. The figure is by Daniel Chester French and is 18 feet high, carved from crystalline Georgia marble.
