Original World War II U.S. Army Honorable Discharge certificate and Enlisted Record and Report of Separation for Private First Class John X. Edwards, serial number 33 028 506. Edwards served in the Service Battery of the 109th Field Artillery Battalion. He was inducted on March 20, 1941, at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, and was discharged on October 15, 1945, at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, Pennsylvania.

Edwards received numerous awards including the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with five bronze stars for battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.
