Carole Penny Marshall (1943 - 2018) was an American actress, producer, and director. She is best known for her role as Laverne DeFazio on the sitcom Laverne & Shirley, which ran from 1976 to 1983. Marshall also directed many movies, including Big, Awakenings, A League of Their Own, and Riding in Cars With Boys. She was married to actor and director Rob Reiner from 1971 to 1981.
