This Longsho Department Store exclusive Hello Kitty was designed in honor of the 89th anniversary, with a baseball theme (8 - hachi, 9 - kyu) reflecting the success of the Longsho High School baseball team.
The Longsho High School baseball team's performance in 2013 reached the quarterfinals, just short of the finals, but the design anticipated their future success.
There's a story that the design was produced with the belief that they would go to Koshien (the national high school baseball championship) that year.
Because it takes a long time from design to product release, it was supposed to be a strap commemorating their Koshien appearance.
This was purchased 12 years ago, and is a design from 12 years ago.
There is some aging and wear.
This is not recommended for those seeking perfection.
