Levi’s, short for Levi Strauss & Co., is an iconic American clothing brand known primarily for its denim jeans, particularly the Levi’s 501 model. The company was founded in 1853 by Levi Strauss, a German immigrant, in San Francisco, California. Originally, Strauss was in the dry goods business, supplying essentials to miners during the California Gold Rush.
In 1873, Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, a tailor, received a patent to create work pants reinforced with copper rivets at stress points, marking the birth of the blue jean. The rivets added durability to areas prone to tearing, like pocket corners and the base of the button fly. The rugged design quickly gained popularity among miners, cowboys, and workers needing sturdy clothing.
These jeans by no means are in good shape. They are quite distressed and have some staining. They could use a solid hand wash. There is a patchwork repair on the knee as pictured. However they are a great pair of jeans.
