This listing is for a 1967 Underwood-Olivetti 21 typewriter in superb working and cosmetic condition. The typewriter has been professionally serviced and verified for full functionality. A new ribbon has been installed. It comes in the original fitted case with lined interior. Serial number is 708956.


The '21' is actually the classic Italian-designed Olivetti 'Studio 44' with a new body and very attractive two-tone blue/teal color. Olivetti bought Underwood and rebranded the 44 as Olivetti-Underwood 21'. It is otherwise identical to the Studio44--which was one of the best designed desktop portable typewriters of all time.


The Studio 44 was designed by Italian architect Marcello Nizzoli & engineer Guiseppe Beccio and they created an exceptionally well engineered and elegant work of machine art.
