Extremely rare, one of a kind, private collection release! Museum quality, incredible rarity out of Santa Eulalia, Mexico. This exquisite rhodochrosite specimen is from the personal collection of the famed geologist, Dr. Peter Megaw. The fully natural, world class mixed mineral gem is a sculptural work of art. Featuring high grade, gemmy and juicy, translucent deep watermelon pink (red pink) rhodochrosite crystals covering a bed of fluorite. Large terminated, prismatic rhodo crystals as well as sparkling druzy pink micro crystals cover the unique quartz pseudomorph fluorite matrix. Found in the main silicate orebody at the 10th Level Mina El Potosi Mine in Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, the area lay dormant for 20 years then briefly opened in 2011 when a very small number of these incredible Mexican rhodochrosite fluorites were discovered. A gorgeous fine mineral display specimen that shows beautifully and includes the original mineral ID / locale info card.
