Typed and Signed Woodrow Wilson Letter on White House Stationary with Original Envelope
This note from President Wilson is dated a week after his election in 1912, but the envelope with White House posting is dated 1914. It is possible that the note was first posted after inauguration in 1913, but not deliverable until the new address from the 1913 move became known. The letter was one of three signed by Wilson found among the Estate of Dr Macauley’s grandson and namesake, Colonel Hugh B. MacCauley (1922-2003)
Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States, for 2 terms including WWI, after having served as the 13th President of Princeton and the 34th Governor of New Jersey. As a Presbyterianism it’s not surprising then that Wilson would know the prominent Dr. Hugh B MacCauley (1855-1925) who, at the time of Wilson’s election who, at the time of Wilson’s election in 1912, was a Presbyterian minister in Trenton New Jersey and knew Wilson. From Estate of Col. Hugh B MacCauley
