This jacket is a recreation of a piece custom-made and brought back to America by a US soldier stationed in Vietnam in 1969. It features a classic design with a Vietnam map as the main motif, but each embroidery has its own unique characteristics. The tiger head on the chest is a sharper design compared to others. The 福 character is also unusual in that it is embroidered with two different colored threads. The map on the back has a cross embroidered in the center, which is also not seen in other Vietnam map designs. The message on the upper back is incomplete, but this is also a faithful reproduction of the vintage piece. Available in three colors: black, green, and orange, the latter two being rare even in vintage pieces.
VIETNAM JACKET
Similar to the Sukajan, which originated in post-war Japan, the Souvenir Jacket, also known as the Vetjan, emerged during the Vietnam War from the 1960s to the 1970s. The main fabrics used are cotton twill or camouflage poncho liner, and the designs are embroidered with thick, matte-colored threads.
