The optical system of the Batis 2.8/18 is an 18mm Distagon type lens. This Distagon is characterized by its excellent correction of distortion (straight lines appear distorted). It is the widest lens in the ZEISS Batis lens series. The lens configuration is 11 elements in 10 groups, with 9 aperture blades.
The Batis series features dust and moisture sealing, and thanks to its special design that protects the lens from dust and water spray, it can be used with confidence even in harsh outdoor shooting conditions.
