Vintage carved stick. Ivory color w/ intricate Koi fish at bottom + lines/design going to tip. Carved segments-3” fish part; 1”-2” up to tip
Appx: 23 1/4” long; diameter bottom 3” to 2” tip. Across tip 1/4” wide. Just over 12oz
Initially thinking: asian vintage pool stick handle, based on bottom rounded piece/design. But no grooves on inner tip, only old bolt? Could also be part of an old walking stick? It’s a mystery!
NYC dealer seems to think it’s ivory based on my pics & info. I’m still looking for a reputable dealer here to confirm 100%.
Mom got from her grandma (my great-grandma) on 18th bday in 1964. Was told it was pricey back then. She’s almost 80 now. Kept it decades w/ her other unique sticks.
She was told it’s some sort of bone, but I see no porous holes under my loop, I see lines which leans me toward ivory or resin. Passed hot needle test, no smell & no hole left when pierced. I carefully read ivory laws just in case! OK to resell, due to age acquired/inherited.
