This is a very fine porcelain figurine of a Chinese Bodhisattva, Guanshiyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Compassion & Mercy, aka Guanyin & Kwan Yin. Many statues have a removable right hand. According to Chinese tradition, Kwan Yin will literally lend a hand to those in dire need. Believers pray to Kwan Yin to make a request for healing, etc would then carry the hand or hide it somewhere in the home until the prayer is granted before returning it to the Goddess. She stands on a lily pad holding a lily flower. An interesting, finely detailed piece in great condition. minor chips to the one hand on the finger tips. see photos. very large piece. 14.5 tall
