
RARE VINTAGE 1960s Clay Bell in the form of Jurojin one of the Shichifukujin or The Seven Deities of Good Fortune in Japanese mythology. Jurojin is the Shinto God of Longevity, a symbol of joy, old age and long life. Also tied to Chinese Taoist culture as The Old Man of the South Pole. Only other example I’ve seen is in the Girard Collection at Museum of International Folk Art.Mold made, painted brown, smiling, old man with elongated head. White heavy beard, eyebrows and moustache.
