This handsome paperweight would look great on an executive desk, in a curio cabinet, and also in a Man Cave! In 1972 Jerry Vandermark began designing art glass and trained glassblowers at the Vandermark Glasshouse of Liberty Village in Flemington, New Jersey. I was employed in 1981 to work in the shop selling Vandermark creations. This iridescent hand-blown "Feather Pulled" paper weight stands approx. 5 1/2" tall x approx. 3 1/2" at widest point. The layered colors of white, blue and yellow glisten on this art glass. This paper weight is signed "Vandermark '84 0300" on the base (enlarge photo #5) and is unique due to the thick layer of clear glass between the inner white glass and the iridescent feather pulled layer giving it a translucent appearance. This vintage Vandermark paper weight is in excellent condition - there are no chips or cracks.Vandermark Art Glass is represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian & private collections.
