This large platter is in the Luzerne pattern by the Mercer Pottery Co. of Trenton, N.J. It features floral sprays around the rim placed against a band of leaves at the rim edge. In the center is a grouping of the same flowers and leaves. The mark is a crown over a shield and Mercer /Semi-Vitreous . Mercer was established in 1868; this piece dates from about 1879. This platter is in excellent condition with only three or four short (1/2 long or less), shallow knife marks and very little crazing; even the rim has much of the gold left on. The close-up photos are not for indicating flaws, but for showing the intricacy of the design. Size: 12.5 wide x 17 long. I live in the Tampa Bay area for local delivery.
