This is a rare find for any Dr. Seuss collector - a first edition printing of The King's Stilts from 1939, published by Random House. The book is in good condition, with some wear and darkening to the outside boards mostly the corners. This is an ex-library book and has the dated checkout card on the back inside cover and associated numbers written on the front and on a couple of pages on the inside. The many colored illustrations throughout the book are vibrant and engaging, and while a few pages have some light finger smuges, most of the book is clean. The King's Stilts is the story of a devoted king whose entire kingdom is threatened when his beloved stilts are stolen, and he is too distraught to do his job. Written in prose instead of rhyme, this book addresses subjects that Dr. Seuss was passionate about throughout his life, including duty, abuse of power, deceit, and even cats. Dr. Seuss's work has spawned numerous adaptations, including television specials, feature films, and a Broadway musical, and his birthday is celebrated annually on National Read Across America Day.Condition: Pre-Owned Good
