Rare and authentic pair of souvenirs from Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s iconic public art installation "The Gates" in Central Park, New York. reasonable offered considered. Included:+ One Original Photo taken and printed contemporary to the Exhibit + One saffron fabric swatchThe original photograph taken by a visitor in February 2005 captures a significant moment in contemporary art history. The image is in color and printed on paper using digital production techniques. It is dated on the back 2/20/2005. The photograph is enclosed in a plastic frame with glare proof glass. Attached to the back of the frame with damage-proof scotch tape is one of the original square swatches of the saffron orange fabric used to create the flags. SIZE: Frame is 8” X 10”. Photo measures just under 6” by 7”. Swatch measures 7 cm square (~ 2 3/4” square).CONDITION: Excellent condition overall: photo may have some fading. Though the swatch has been taped to the back, it appears to be in excellent condition.ABOUT: The artists installed 7,503 vinyl "gates" along 23 miles (37 km) of pathways in Central Park in New York City. From each gate hung a panel of deep saffron-colored nylon fabric. The exhibit ran from February 12 through February 27, 2005. The landmark public art installation recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with an exhibition at The Shed in Hudson Yards and an interactive augmented reality experience in Central Park.
