Roger Corman, the king of B-movies, adapted the Edgar Allan Poe horror series into a film. This is the first film in the Poe series produced by AIP and is a gothic masterpiece. A masterpiece in American film history, registered in the National Film Registry in 2005.
The eerie atmosphere created by Vincent Price, a famous actor in the horror world, and his noble and dignified performance are exceptional in this horror work.
Richard Matheson, who worked on Duel, The Legend of Hell House, and Somewhere in Time, wrote the screenplay.
