ORIGINAL PAINTING on Canvas20" x 16" x 1"Signed: tlp 2017'Thanking Van Gogh'A reinterpretation of the French Impressionists Sunflower seriesThe painting depicts a variety of sunflower, called Soraya. They somewhat resemble Black-eyed Susans. Background is deep forest green, with ample foliage and an earthen clay pot texture glazed deep red. The painting has nice depth and texture. Flower petals appear to reach for you, while textured centers recede. It's quite cheerful.Signed: tlp 2017This painting was done in honor of the artists Sister and Niece. She followed the tradition of VanGogh, specifically his Sunflower series, because it has been recorded, by historians, that the series was and effort for him to compartmentalize emotion, channeling the Spirit ofthe cheerful flowers, from his studio in Provence. The varying degrees of freshness, juxtaposinglively erect flowers with those beginning to wilt, are said to represent his fluctuating state ofemotion. Van Gogh was bipolar, and many critiques believe this added an interesting layer to hispaintings. This is a very interesting re-interpretation of his Sunflower series. Peaceful, yet cheery.
