Norman Lear was born in Connecticut in 1922 before moving with his family to Massachusetts where he went to college in Boston. At 20, he dropped out and joined the Air Force where he flew 52 bombing missions during World War II. After the war, Lear moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in publicity. Soon he found himself teamed up with his cousin’s husband, an aspiring writer, and began writing comedy routines for Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis. After spending the 1950’s writing comedy, Lear moved into producing comedy in the early 1960’s and changed the American sitcom in the 1970’s & 80’s with shows like “All In The Family”, “Sanford and Son”, “Maude”, “Good Times”, “Fernwood Tonight”, “One Day at a Time”, “The Jeffersons”, “Silver Spoons”, “227” and “The Facts of Life”. Lear continued working right up until his death in 2023 at the age of 101. He signed this 8x10 photo in blue Sharpie in 2014 at the age of 92 which is why the signature is a little shakey. The photo is in excellent condition except for two light dents (see photo) and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Autograph World, co-founder of the UACC and one of the most trusted authentic autograph dealers in the world.Be sure to make an offer on this or one of my other listings which feature many unique and hard to find items - Crystal and Glassware, Fine Artwork, Art Glass, Asian Rarities, Celebrity Autographs, Fine Porcelain, Quality Jewelry, Hollywood Memorabilia and much more.
