The deck crew of US Navy ships exposed to strong winds and cold on deck. They wore a deck jacket and layered a deck parka, a cold weather garment, on top. As a result, the original deck jacket had a long length and a silhouette with considerable room in the chest width and armholes. However, this parka is a Buzz Rickson's original deck parka that has been modified to be worn alone without layering.
