Offered are four, hand painted, 9 5/8” dinner plates (made in the U.S.A.) in the attractive but discontinued Dixie Dogwood pattern featuring yellow/green dogwood blossoms, green leaves, and black stems on white. (This pattern was offered by Joni China, Stetson, and Blue Ridge Southern Pottery. I could not associate the backmarks with any one of them.) I believe this pattern was popular in the 1950’s because I recall my grandmother having a set. IMO these plates scream midcentury.
Given age, they are in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or discolorations. There is some age-related crazing on each (testament to their vintage condition) which I’ve tried to capture in the photos. (Assumed these to be hand wash only.)
These plates would make a nice addition to a Dixie Dogwood collection or would contribute nicely to a unique mix-and-match set. One could imagine just how lovely these would be as part of a table setting that included a vase of fresh dogwood blossoms.
