The New England Glass Company, which later became Libbey, was founded in East Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1907 Libbey became the first company to use a machine to produce blown glass tumblers. In 1916 Edward D Libbey and Michael Owens formed the Libbey Owens Sheet Glass Company. The Libbey Glass Company was purchased by Owens-Illinois Glass Company in 1935.
Introduced in 1993, Libbey began producing these cobalt blue pedestal mugs as part of a broader cobalt glassware collection. The distinctive deep blue color was hugely popular in home décor during that decade. They were discontinued in 2005.
These 8 mugs are new and come in the original box. The box does show wear. Please refer to the pictures.
