Extra-large vintage Imari style charger or plate is hard to find in this size and at this price. The shallow footed plate or bowl is deep cobalt blue with cinnabar red and gold highlights over a white earthenware. It is stunning displayed on the wall or table. The plate is in very nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is some crazing (the effect on pottery which causes it to have a web of tiny cracks over its surface). These are NOT cracks in the actual structure of the pottery, just the glaze. The plate features two cranes in the center with a bonsai tree and small flowers around the border of the charger. It has a gold rim with highlights of gold throughout the plate. The hand-applied gold on the scalloped edge has rubbed off in a few places.
