Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) Chevalier aux Papillons (Horseman with Butterflies), numbered 252/300 from Les Anamorphoses series (lithographs), 1972. Signed and numbered in pencil by Salvador Dalí. One in a suite of five anamorphic prints on vellum (Arches), signed in pencil, 252/300, published by Jean Schneider, printed by ateliers Matthieu. The image takes a different perspective when viewed from the reflection of a cylindrical mirror: butterflies become a rider & conquistadors in this piece. Rare original litho- prime example of the surreal imagination of Dalí & his optical obsession. PROVENANCE: Signed/numbered, printed on Arches vellum, purchased by me at an estate sale, along with other rare original art. I researched carefully & believe it’s authentic. CONDITION: Several indentations, shown clearly in photos, front/back, no punctures. I don’t think they detract from the beauty. Unframed, carefully packed/shipped/fully insured. Tracking number provided, signature required.
