Here is a potentially rare piece!! It is a 1911 Pittsburg Turn-Bezirk Gut Heil FFST Ribbon/Medal- Bezirks Turnfest Johnstown, PA.
Turn-Bezirk Gut Heil translated means Turn District Good Healing and Bezirks Turnfest means District Gymnastics Festival .
So I believe this is an early 1900's ribbon from a Johnstown, PA based German Gymnastics group in an event held in Pittsburgh, PA.
Based on my research, the reverse FFST symbol was a somewhat obscure variant that began to appear in the later part of the 19th century and represented Frisch-Frei-Stark-Treu (energetic-free-strong-true). It was based on German 4-F Turners (Gymnasts) and Socialist sports movements.
The 1911 is hard to read on the ribbon, but interestingly the Pittsburg on the medal is without the h . The h was added to Pittsburgh around 1911.
