Jay Chiat asked Frank Gehry to design these cups to celebrate the opening of Chiat/Day Advertising's L.A. office, the iconic binoculars building” in Venice Beach. Gehry’s sketches are part of his legend. These cups and saucers utilize the actual sketches for Chiat/Day’s H.Q. - the building which many believe paved the way for Bilbao, Gehry’s transformative commission.
Frank Gehry has designed furniture and objects, such as light fixtures, but these are unique.
