First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Shocking Life by Elsa Schiaparelli (E. P. Dutton & Company, 1954). Memoir of the iconic Italian fashion designer known for her eccentric surrealist designs and bold use of color, especially her use of “shocking pink.” Rare true first edition. Price clipped jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with heavy wear, especially to spine and around the edges which have chipping, creasing, tears and some missing bits. Tale adhered to many of the larger tears. Boards are fairly clean though slightly bowed and with bumped corners and worn edges. A few instances of mildly split binding and with cocked spine. All pages clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
