Master carvers in Indonesia have been creating beautiful wooden sculptures since the dawn of man. Then Njana and Tilem changed the whole woodcarving game in the 30's. These pieces are a wonderful display of the culmination of all that practice. Carved out of a gorgeous, dense tiger rosewood; these pieces are extremely heavy for their size.
Originally purchased at the Gallery in Bali. On the trip home there was an unfortunate accident.
The only damage that exists on all of these pieces is a little scratch on the larger man's hat thats is pretty hidden and the small broken chip off the woman's crown, which is hardly noticeable from the front. Literally none of the tiny intricate details on the woman are chipped at all.
