
The weaving consists of vertical reeds for most of the basket's length, interspersed with decorative, finer weaving around the middle section and rim.“These types of baskets were traditionally used for various purposes in Japan, including storing rice, harvesting tea, carrying sake, and as flower arrangement containers called "hanakago".
