First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Memoirs of a Star by Pola Negri (Doubleday, 1970). Hard to find true first edition of this autobiography of a life spent acting on stage and screen, with all the drama surrounding the wide variety of contemporaneous stars Neri crossed paths with along the way. Richly illustrated with photographs of her life and work. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and wear around the edges - including creasing, chipping, some curling and tears - the larger of which have tape applied to interior side. Blemishes to boards from handling and with corners bumped. A few instances of mildly split binding though spine remains fairly straight and binding firm on the whole. Previous owner’s embossed personal library stamp to front endpaper and a few sparse instances of underlining. Otherwise pages appear clean and unmarked. See photos for condition. Packaged with care and shipped via USPS Media Mail
