If you use as an essential oil burner make sure you only drop 2 or 3 drops & fill up the small plate 2/3 water , pref. distilled water
Make sure before the water dissappears you refill oil & water or the glass bowl will break
If you use as an essential oil burner the tea candle goes on the middle bottom area where the ☆ is
If you use as a tea candle holder, place the candle on the glass plate ,& you're good
