This is an Early American pressed glass compote by an unknown maker. Paneled Star and Button design made 1880 - 1885. The compote has a lovely faint amethyst colored tint.
Fantastic early period piece of pressed glass, this compote measures 9 in diameter and stands 8 tall. The date range is based on the appearance of a table set in an April 1884 wholesaler catalog. References - Metz 1 p174, Kamm 1 p15.
A couple scratches along the underside of the bowl and various other small scratches. All in all minimal signs of wear for this antique piece.
What a wonderful piece to have in any collection of early period pressed glass.
