Navajo Figured Sterling Silver Ear Tag
“Whispering Medicine“ Edge-Fit
This small item, literally named Whispering Medicine, is a tag-style earring... generally called an ear cuff. The English word cuffs refers to the cuffs of clothing or handcuffs, so I have no idea why it came to be used for the ear.
Since the ring-shaped identification tags attached to the legs of wild birds or the fasteners at the ends of shoelaces are called tags, I personally find this more understandable, but it doesn't matter either way. Anyway, among the many earrings, despite being the most unisex and simple, it hasn't gained much popularity and has continued to exist in a small way, perhaps because of the radical scent it exudes. It's a truly mysterious little giant.
The name whispering medicine is intended to be a charm of hearing that, unlike rings or bracelets that don't jump into your vision, continues to whisper a magic spell in the ear of the traveling owner, like a windstorm raging across the wilderness. I sincerely hope to clear the stigma of ear cuffs, where only the punkish appearance is exaggerated.
Whispering medicine edge-fit, a lightweight version in a tube-cut style that fits the edge of the ear. This is also hand-stamped on a sterling silver plate, with crossed twin arrows (symbols of friendship and peace) engraved and curved.
