This is an original travertine elephant sculpture designed by Enzo Mari for Fratelli Mannelli in the 1970's. Enzo Mari and Fratelli Mannelli did a series of travertine animal sculptures but the elephant is one of their rarer pieces. See pictures for details. It's an absolutely beautiful and unique piece because of the modern design and the specific travertine.
The Mannelli brothers created wonderful pieces from Travertine, a form of limestone found in several places in Europe. In Italy it is located in the heart of the Province of Siena, in the quaint village of Rapolano Terme. Not all pieces are signed or marked.
